One Day Trip to Lake Ziway
Overview of the tour in Addis Ababa
Early morning, depart south from Addis Ababa to Lake Ziway, one of the chain of lakes found in the Great Rift Valley. After we reach Ziway Lake we start our day trip by taking boat on Lake Ziway. There are five islands which include Debre Tsion, Galila, Bird Island, Debre Abraham and, perhaps most notably Tullu Gudo/Debre Sina on boat, we visit one of island the Bird island for Bird watching more than 25 specious of Bird life and gelila island to see different families of Hippos On the Lake Hippo and birds are the main attractions. The island hosts the church of Maryam Tsion which, according to tradition, once housed the Ark of the Covenant to hide it from invaders.
The visit, return to shore, enjoying the bountiful birdlife on this lake and possibly some hippos. Return to Addis Ababa late afternoon.

Things to note
Lake Ziway measure 25 kilometres long and 20 kilometres wide, with a surface area of 434 square kilometres. It has a maximum depth of 14 meters and located at an elevation of 1,846 meters. On the island we met by local guides and introduced to the unique culture of the Zay people. Though just 900 of them live on the island, their culture and language are completely different from the surrounding Oromo people.
