Overview
This private, customized, and exclusive tour of Addis includes a visit to the National Archaeological Museum, home to Lucy’s 3.25-million-year-old fossil, the oldest hominid remains.
Then, we drive up to Mount Entoto (3,200 meters above sea level) to enjoy a breathtaking view of the city and visit the oldest church in Addis Ababa, renowned for its beautiful hand-painted wall murals, which are as old as the church itself (140 years).
Next, we visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, famous for its stained glass windows and its rich museum displaying crowns, icons, manuscripts, and more. It is also the final resting place of Emperor Haile Selassie I.
After lunch at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant, where visitors can savor a variety of delicious Ethiopian dishes, we head to Merkato—the largest open-air market in Africa. Here, we explore its most fascinating cultural sections, including the spice market, the handwoven basket market, and the second-hand goods market. We will also experience a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
Finally, we take a scenic drive through Addis Ababa to see monuments, squares, and major landmarks.
