Fascinating Handicrafts of Tajganj
Overview of the tour in Agra
When we contemplate heritage, our thoughts naturally gravitate towards tangible elements like architectural marvels and monuments. However, this represents just one facet of what heritage truly encompasses.
The intangible essence of heritage is found in the wealth of knowledge, traditions, arts, music, and other cultural facets. For instance, when Shah Jahan commissioned the construction of the Taj Mahal, he also laid the foundation for a community known as Mumtazabad. Over time, the name of this locality evolved into Tajganj, now situated a mere couple of hundred meters from the Taj Mahal.
During our exploration, we will venture into a 400-year-old handicraft cluster, where we will have the opportunity to visit workshops specializing in zardozi, marble inlay, carpet weaving, and the creation of floral jewelry.
Our primary objective is to demonstrate how tourism can be conducted in a sustainable fashion, ensuring that the benefits reach the grassroots level of the current hierarchical structure within the tourism industry.
