Overview

Join me for a half-day walking tour through the heart of Almaty! We’ll explore Republic Square, Panfilov and Arbat streets, Astana Square, the Green Market, and 28 Panfilov Park with the stunning Voznesensky Cathedral.

This tour covers Almaty's key historical and cultural landmarks. Discover the rich history of the city, once the capital of Kazakhstan and now a vibrant hub of culture, education, and finance. As we stroll through new (Republic) and old (Astana) squares, you’ll learn about the city’s evolution and role in Kazakhstan’s history.

You’ll have a chance to try local delicacies like Kumys (horse milk), Shubat (camel milk), as well as Beshbarmak, the main national dish. The tour continues with a visit to the Panfilov Park, dedicated to military heroes, and the unique wooden Zenkov/Voznesensky (Ascension) Cathedral, built without nails.

I’m excited to meet you and share Almaty's beauty on this unforgettable journey!

Things to note

Please pay for the tour in tenge (KZT), if possible!
This is a totally walking tour. The price only covers the tour itself. Any additional activities, purchases, tickets, etc., are paid separately, but they are all optional.

If you are interested in tasting the national cuisine, the Green Market is the ideal place for it. A glass of Kumys/Shubat costs about 300 tenge, and the price for Beshbarmak might vary from 800 to 2000 tenge per person in a local cafe. You can also do the shopping there, everything from food to clothes, including many souvenir shops/kiosks will be on our way.
