Overview of the tour in Astorga
On this panoramic walking tour you will discover the most hidden secrets of the historic center of Astorga. We will start in the Plaza de Eduardo Castro where we will learn about the Roman origins of this two-thousand-year-old city. After this brief introduction we will approach the most important monument of the city: its imposing cathedral and we will learn such curious details as the pilgrim's dog or the peculiar character that crowns the cathedral, the enigmatic Pedro Mato. From there we will see the small church of Santa Marta, and the mysterious "cell of the sandwiches". Next we will see a fairly well preserved section of the wall of Roman origin and we will dedicate a stop to the impressive Episcopal Palace, designed by the Catalan genius Gaudí. Through Calle de los Sitios, the main artery of the Astorgan historic center, we will learn details about the city's artisan trades and Napoleon's passage through it. Already in the Plaza Mayor, we will make special emphasis on the Town Hall and the well-known Clock of the Maragatos. Finally, and on the way to the Garden of the Synagogue, we will talk about the Roman Museum, the church of San Bartolomé and the remains of the Casa Rom
