Overview
We start our gastronomic tour with a cup of aromatic Greek coffee in a local coffee shop. You will try traditional coffee brewed on the sand and enjoy fresh sesame buns - "koulouri."
Then we visit Varvakios Agora. Here, you can see a variety of fresh products, from olive oil and cheeses to spices and the freshest fish. This is the perfect place to get acquainted with the real atmosphere of Greek cuisine.
We will also stop at a family shop to try honey from the Attica region - one of the best in Greece.
Next, we go to the bakaliko shop to try different types of cheeses, sausages, olives, and wines, such as retsina and asyrtiko plus tsipouro - local chacha.
Then we will try souvlaki, the king of street food in Greece. How about spanakopita (a pie filled with feta cheese and baby spinach leaves) and sweet bougatsa with custard?
A sweet finale: dessert
To finish the tour, we will go to a pastry shop to enjoy desserts: baklava, loukoumades (fried donuts with honey and cinnamon), and galaktoboureko (milk pie). The perfect end to the day is a glass of mastic liqueur made from the resin of the mastic tree.
