Overview of the tour in Athens

Difficulty level: Suitable for active people in good physical shape.

Distance: 13 km
Elevation gain: 1000 m
Duration: 5 hours
Start at 10:00 near the Casino.
Finish at 15:00-16:00 at the start place.
The route is a loop, and we plan to descend by cable car.
In case of bad weather, the cable car may close. Be ready to walk an additional 3.5 km down to the parking lot.

Must bring with you:
1.5 liters of water per person
Food: sandwiches, snacks – nuts, burs
Closed shoes, preferably with thick soles
Windstopper (it’s already cool at the top)

Route description:
We will follow one of the most popular trails in Parnitha. At the start, we’ll hike 5 km uphill along a forest path through the gorge between the casino and Flambouri shelter, reaching 1100 meters. The trail partly crosses open rocky sections with views of the city and bay, so it will be warm in the sun. Later, we’ll enter a pine forest and walk in the cool shade with small ascents and descents. Then, we’ll take an easy path to Bafi Shelter for a snack and rest. After that, we return to the cable car for the descent.

If the weather is bad and the cable car is closed, we will add an extra 3.5 km hike down to the parking lot.
