Historical Athens Run Tour

Overview of the tour in Athens

Join us on this unique and diverse route that will take you from modern times into the land of the ancient Greeks. Each runner will get a chance to see all that Athens is and was on this one and a half hour run. Our athletes will take you past the bustling streets of Athens and down into her historic heart, the Plaka. From there we’ll cruise around the Ancient Agora, home of the first parliament, down gleaming marble paths that will lead to spectacular views of the Acropolis and its monuments till we hit the secret trails of Athens, a place little known to visitors and locals alike; these winding single track trails will offer amazing views of the urban landscape that stretches out to the blue and seemingly endless sea. Coming down from these wonderous heights we’ll run down the main promenade where we will end near to an area known for its aromatic coffee and local teas.

On arrival

We will be standing outside the Siggrou-Fix Metro Stop on the pedestrian road Drakou Street. The metro stop is only one stop away from the Acropolis Metro Stop on the RED LINE. Siggrou-Fix Metro is in-between two coffee shops, Grigoris and Everest. Metro tickets cost 1,40 if you should need one to get to us.

Things to note

The route is 10 Kilometers (6.21 Miles) but can be altered easily to make 8 Kilometers (5 miles) depending on your level of fitness and/or time constraints (if any). On the 10 Kilometers route there will be a large hill we will climb for spectacular views, in which case we usually power hike up. Again, this can be modified on an individual basis. During the summer months temperatures can reach up to 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) by 10:30 a.m. so its important to dress accordingly and to have with you water and in some cases sunscreen applied. The water is safe to drink in Athens and there will be various places to refill water bottles. This is a FUN RUN and all guides will go at the runners comfortable pace. There can be stops along the way for photos and information, but you will need to ask your guide. All of our athletes are historians or have a deep knowledge of the surrounding areas and customs so don't be afraid to ask if you're curious :)
