Overview of the tour in Athens
We will visit landmarks related to the Ottoman past of Athens, such as baths, schools, churches, mosques, and spots of torture. We will visit a typical residence in Ottoman Greece and see the ruins of the Turkish chief's residence.
We will visit Byzantine churches that tell the story of a personality who stood against Islamic oppression with acts of bravery and gallant giving to the community.
We will speak about Greek artists influenced by the Islamic era: we will see the places of their inspiration, the neighborhoods they lived and their art. Last but not least, we will visit three churches related to the life and death of famous Greek fighters.
We will learn about a lost neighborhood in the heart of Athens! We will see abandoned mosques and learn the strange story of an Islamic school turned into a jail!
We will see iconic Orthodox items and holy relics of neo-martyrs.

On arrival
You will find me at the entrance of the Cathedral on the left part of the stairway as you see the church, wearing a red pullover or a red T-shirt! Please note that the Sunday tour starts at 10.30. On Sundays there is only one tour.
