Walk & Talk Around Athens
Overview of the tour in Athens
In this tour, we will walk and talk along a specific route around the narrow streets of Athens, passing by main points along the modern center of Athens, towards the historic center, Plaka, and Acropolis.
After that, we will head down Aeolus Street and then up to the Tower of the Winds, where we will finish our cultural walk, reflecting a romantic passage around the “Rock” towards Areios Pagos for a 360 view of the Attic basin. After enjoying the view for a while, we will head down from the other side back to Plaka and Monastiraki for an epilogue of Athenian legacy, then and now, as a common heritage to us all rather than a monopoly in history.
Along the way, we will discuss the city’s particular characteristics, districts, and cultural stamp reflecting its history. We will emphasize the similarities seen in present-day life with our knowledge of how people used to live, according to reflections from Thucydides and Herodotus.
We will now discuss a social perspective reviewing the Athenian lifestyle and local activities. Last, we will focus on rhetorical dilemmas revising the lifestyles of Socrates Alcibiades and their choices/actions when betrayed by Athenians.
