Free Tour Through Augsburg's Old Town
Overview of the tour in Augsburg
We begin our tour at Rathausplatz, the heart of Augsburg, where we’ll admire the impressive Town Hall, a Renaissance masterpiece by Elias Holl, and enjoy the view from the nearby Perlachturm.
Next, we head to the Old Stock Exchange, once a vital trading hub, and continue to Fuggerplatz, where we’ll learn about the influential Fugger family, who shaped Augsburg’s prosperity in the 15th and 16th centuries.
We then explore Little Venice, a charming district with canals reminiscent of Venice, followed by a visit to the Brecht House, birthplace of playwright Bertolt Brecht.
Our tour continues at the Rudolf Diesel House, where the inventor of the diesel engine was born, offering insights into his groundbreaking work.
We then visit the Leopold Mozart House, birthplace of Leopold Mozart, father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, before arriving at the majestic Augsburg Cathedral, known for its Romanesque and Gothic architecture.
Before concluding, we explore the ancient Roman Wall, a reminder of Augsburg’s time as a Roman provincial capital.
Finally, we relax in the peaceful Hofgarten, reflecting on the city’s rich history and culture.
