Overview of the tour in Badajoz

The tour starts at an emblematic building in Badajoz and moves along the banks of the Guadiana River. Guided by Marta, a biologist specialized in animal tracking and handling, we will enter into the natural wealth that surrounds this beautiful river environment. Throughout the tour, we will observe various animal species, from birds to small mammals, and learn to identify the traces they leave behind, such as tracks and feeding signs.

Marta will explain in detail the behavior of the animals we see and share techniques for recognizing the tracks and trails they leave behind. We will also learn about the flora that inhabits the banks of the Guadiana, identifying both native and invasive species, and we will discover the key role they play in the balance of the ecosystem. In addition, Marta will explain the negative impact that invasive species can have on local biodiversity and the environment.

This tour is a unique opportunity to get to know closely the fauna and flora of the Guadiana, learn about its conservation and enjoy a walk through an incomparable natural environment.

Things to note

Proper footwear: It is essential to wear boots or hiking shoes that offer good support and traction to avoid slipping and keep your feet comfortable during the hike.

Appropriate clothing: Wear breathable and comfortable clothing, preferably in layers to accommodate temperature changes. If there is dense vegetation, wearing long pants can protect from scratches or bites.

Sun protection: Since the terrain may be exposed to the sun, wearing sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat will help avoid sunburn and excessive heat.

Hydration: Bringing enough water is crucial, as we will be walking through natural terrain with no water supply points. Hiking poles (optional): These can be useful for balance on uneven terrain and to relieve pressure on joints.

Waste: Carry a bag to collect any personal garbage, leaving the natural environment clean.

Physical endurance: The route is easy, so it is recommended to have a basic level of physical condition to enjoy the walk without problems
