Berat: Albania's Oldest City
Overview of the tour in Berat
Berat is the oldest city in Albania and one of the oldest in the world. The city is included in UNESCO's list and has been declared a museum city.
We begin by exploring two distinct neighborhoods of the city, Mangalem, and Gorica, separated by the Osum River, which flows through the city center. Above this river stands the Gorica Bridge.
To the east of the city stands Mount Tomorr, offering a magnificent view, while Mount Shpirag is located to the west.
The tour continues with the Bachelor's Mosque, located in the lower part of Mangalem, near Berat's main street. The King's Mosque and the Helveti Tekke are located very close to each other.
Next, we visit the Former Serai and the Gate of the Pasha.
Berat Castle, perched 187 meters high, contains the remains of the Red Mosque, White Mosque, Church of St. Triadha, and Onufri Museum. The houses inside the castle walls form the neighborhood called "kala."
In the city center, you will find the Church of St.Dimitri and the Lead Mosque. Berat is known as the "City of a Thousand Windows."
Berat's construction history is uniquely significant globally and in Albania. We warmly welcome you to visit this magical and splendid city.
