Overview

Hello, we are Oaca Colombia and on our essential Free Tour we offer you an extensive historical and cultural introduction to our beautiful city.

During the tour you will walk through the streets of Candelaria, La Concordia and Las Aguas. During the tour we will talk about the beginnings of the capital, the indigenous tribe that inhabited Bogota, the legend of El Dorado, the independence of Colombia, the most important events for the country as the Bogotazo and the violence in Colombia; we will talk about important celebrities such as Fernando Botero and Gabriel García Márquez; besides knowing how a Colombian lives in Bogota, education, art, gastronomy, and different essential tricks for the stay in the capital. This walk will take 3 hours.

In the free tours, there is no established price. Participants can evaluate the guide's performance and, at the end of the tour, contribute with the amount they consider convenient according to their experience and level of satisfaction.

*The tour will not be cancelled due to bad weather, so we recommend bringing an umbrella.

If for any reason you cannot attend, we recommend canceling the reservation at the end of the confirmation email.

Meeting point

Bolivar's square

On arrival

Please send us a message to confirming your attendance at least 6h before the tour. If for any reason you cannot attend, please cancel the tour at the end of the confirmation email. Thank you for your help.

The meeting point is Bolivar square, in front of the church. You will recognize the guide because they will be holding a green umbrella that says Oaca Colombia.

*For us it would be a pleasure to have you on our tour, this makes us grow as a company and generate better positioning. Some tours have alliances with lodges, they give them a commission and the lodges recommend the tours to the clients, we invite you not to cancel if suddenly the one they recommend you is not ours, we assure you that it is totally worth it and that our guides are professional and studied. We are waiting for you!

If on your trip you are going to visit more places, we invite you to ask.

Things to note

1. To participate in the tour, it is necessary to book a spot, so we can assign a guide.
2. Once the reservation is made, look for our guide in front of the cathedral with a green umbrella that certifies him as a representative of Oaca Colombia.
3. This tour is panoramic, we do not enter any place.
4. At the end of the tour, you can book more experiences with us, just tell our guide which ones you want and he or she will give you all the information.
5. If for any reason you can not attend we recommend canceling the booking.
6. Children under 17 do not need a reservation, please do not reserve a place for them, they can attend without a problem, the only recommendation is children must come to the tour with an adult.
7. The tour will not be canceled due to bad weather, so we recommend bringing an umbrella.
8. Wear comfortable shoes to walk.
9. Go out from your place on time to the meeting point, as sometimes the trips in Bogotá are 40 minutes to 1 hour from points like Chapinero or 93. Check in advance how long it takes to get there.
10. Enjoy our tour :)

How can the tour be free?

Our concept is simple — there is no set price. Instead, you tip your guide at the end of the tour whatever amount feels right to you. Typically, guests give between $10 to $50, depending on their satisfaction and budget.

Most guides accept cash or card payments, or you can do it via our app.

“Incredible tour!”
this was an amazing tour! Hernan David, who is a biologist, guided the tour in the most professional way, I feel like I now know all the history of Colombia and Bogota! I recommend this tour to everyone: be prepared to receive a lot of information and historical details. I am really grateful to have done this tour on my last day in Bogota/Colombia, I will go back to Europe with the best memory you can have: the knowledge! Thank you!

“Great tour”
Although I had some troubles with the organisation, it was not due to a mismanagement of the organisation, just bad luck. The tour covered all there's to know in the historical part of the city, given the little time. The guide, David, spoke a perfect English and he did a great job.
