Overview

The neighborhoods of Retiro and Recoleta form a fundamental axis in the urban layout of Buenos Aires.

The first, forged in the heat of the port and railway movement of a place that became the nodal center of the Buenos Aires urban movement; the second cradle of the historical aristocracy of Argentina, nucleated around Alvear Avenue and the Recoleta Cemetery.

Both neighborhoods today bring together a large part of the architectural emblems of the city, from palaces of the aristocracy of the early 20th century to the most modern rationalist skyscraper of the 1930s. Alvear Avenue, an icon of the Recoleta neighborhood, is the most elegant and French Buenos Aires, enough to transform the Argentine capital into the "Paris of South America".

On the walk you will visit the Plaza San Martín, the Kavanagh building, the Israeli Embassy Square, the San Martín, Paz, Ortiz Basualdo, Pereda, Duhau palaces, the Apostolic Nunciature, Alvear Avenue, the Alvear Hotel, the La Biela Bar, the Basilica Nuestra Señora del Pilar, and the Recoleta Cemetery, among others.
