Overview of the tour in Cairo
Start your tour to amazing Alexandria, the second largest city in Egypt. Capital of Egypt for nearly a thousand-year Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great. This city has an atmosphere that is more Mediterranean than Middle Eastern and is famous for its Roman remains. We'll drive along the Cornish to see the whole city, passing over a bridge of Stanly, unknown soldier of Alexandria, and the statue of Alexander the Great.
Your first stop in this historic city will be the unique ancient catacombs. They are in fact the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut in the rock 1st or 2nd century. Then we'll head to Pompey's Pillar a 26.85 m granite column built to honour of Emperor Diocletian. We'll also pass to the citadel of Qaitbay which was built on the site of the ancient pharaohs (lighthouse) of Alexandria from outside with nice view of the sea. We will visit the famous Alexandria Library and the lush Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque. We'll have an optional stop to try Seafood. Finally, after day full of emotions we will drive back to Cairo to your hotel.
