Overview
Our first stop will be Greenmarket Square, where we will introduce ourselves. Then, we will stop at the Grand Parade in front of the Castle of Good Hope, where we will talk about the different tribes that settled in the Cape Colony. Next, we will visit District 6 to discuss the forced removals.
We will then stop at Church Square to talk about the arrival of slaves, followed by a visit to the Slave Lodge. After that, we will stop near Tuynhuys (the office of the President) before entering the Company’s Garden.
Next, we will visit the Race Classification Court and discuss the segregation and humiliation people faced during the apartheid era. We will then stop at St. George's Cathedral before entering Bo-Kaap, home to the Muslim community. There, we will stop in front of Nurul Mosque to learn about the Muslim community and its traditions.
We will also stop in front of Awal Masjid, the first mosque in South Africa, before visiting Bismillah Restaurant, where we will taste Koesisters, a traditional Muslim doughnut. As we walk, you’ll have opportunities to take photos. Finally, we will stop at Atlas Trading Company, the oldest spice shop in Cape Town.
