Explore Historic Cape Town: Free Tour
Overview of the tour in Cape Town
Join me as we follow the tracks of those who have made the southern tip of Africa their home over time. You will learn about the First Peoples who lived here and the nations that came after, drawn by the resources, beauty, and wealth this country offers.
Our tour focuses on the inner city, where much of its early development took place. Cape Town is a beautiful place, surrounded by mountains and sea, with vistas all around. Its vibrant streets are filled with inhabitants from all walks of life. Historic and modern buildings stand shoulder to shoulder with lovely green areas in between.
We start in the museum area, stroll down Government Avenue, and through the Company's Gardens. An option is a quick visit to BoKaap (the old Malay Quarter), then winding through the city along Greenmarket Square, the Flower Market, City Hall, the Parade, and the Castle of Good Hope.
Time limits prevent us from entering all of them, but we'll provide a taste and background info, allowing you to return at your leisure. A final stroll skirting District Six brings us full circle back to Government Avenue.
