Alternative Walk on Mount Etna
Overview
The walk is for the people who have A RENTED CAR; for those who don't have it, I can pick up no more than 3 people in my car :)
In this quiet and very pleasant experience, also suitable for families, you can enjoy some of the most beautiful attractions of Etna: nature, amazing landscapes, and the Bove Valley (a gigantic lava desert, 8 km long and 5 km wide).
First, we will walk in the shade of pine and broom wood, typical Etna species.
At first, the road will be uphill, then flat. After an hour of walking, between nature and a spectacular view of the Ionian Sea, we will reach the top of the route, at an altitude of 1970 meters. Once there, you will see an incredible landscape in front of you: Etna, the Bove Valley, the Ionian Sea and Calabria!
There, words are useless.
During the walk, I will tell you:
- How Etna was born and how it developed over the course of history;
- About Catania, its history, its culture, and its connections with Etna;
- Sicily in general and all the information you need!

On arrival
We will meet with the cars in PANIFICIO LA FARINA ANTONY, a fantastic bakery specializing in pistachio. We'll meet there at 8: 30 am for the people who have a hotel in Catania and for those who have rented a car.
For those who have a Hotel outside Catania, we will meet directly at the PARKING SCHIENA D'ASINO.
The walk is very easy and relaxing, and it is thought especially for the people who have A RENTED CAR.
I can pick up NO MORE THAN 3 PEOPLE IN MY CAR.
Things to note
Start: 1800mt up to 1970 mt.
I suggest bringing with you:
- 2 liters of water;
- Something to nibble on during the walk;
- A sweater or a pullover in case of wind (there are more or less 8 degrees of difference between Catania and Mt Etna);
- Sneakers, or trainers or trekking shoes.
