Hiking to Big Buddha & Yoga
Overview of the tour in Chiang Mai
Hike to Big Buddha & Yoga
We'll pick you up from the hotel at 6.30 am to Wat Phra That Doi Saket (Doisaket temple). This Breathtaking temple was built in the year 1112. BE READY TO CIMB THE STAIRS! The golden chedi is on the top. The high up you get a good view of the surrounding area.
We’ll then walk a little further up (a long staircase) to a BIG Buddha whose platform offers spectacular views over Wat Doi Saket temple, mountain scenes, and the valley. A little further away is a beautiful garden with statues of Lord Buddha.
After the hiking at Doisaket temple, we'll go to Flow Yoga Chiangmai Home & Retreat Center to practice yoga with Amori, my yoga, and meditation teacher. You and Amori will practice 60 mins (depending on how comfortable you feel) of morning yoga in the studio or the beautiful garden).
After yoga practice, we will share a delicious lunch that I prepare myself. Then we visit a local market nearby and drop you off at the minibus stop to go back to the old city.
This activity includes:
- Doi Saket Market
- Flow Yoga Chiang Mai
- Yoga
- AUTHENTIC THAI cooked meal
On arrival
Wat Phrathat Doi Saket is located in the Doi Saket district, just outside the city of Chiang Mai. Traveling to the temple by motorbike or car will take approximately 30 minutes from the center of Chiang Mai. Doi Saket is located on the road north to Chiang Rai (Highway 118), just before the climb up the mountain on the right-hand side. The Doi Saket district is predominantly a rural farming area, with plenty of rice fields in the valley as well as orchards and other farming on the mountainsides. I have attached a map to this article showing how to get there from Chiang Mai. Just drive straight for about 15 km until you see the sign to turn right for Doi Saket or you will see a large seated Buddha image, called Phra Buddha Pathimakorn can be seen from far. Keep following this road right through the middle of the little town and you’ll see an intimidating Naga staircase leading up to the temple.
Things to note
Refrain from wearing sleeveless shirts and pants that are short above the knee. ฺBecause it is a temple rule that we must follow. I have prepared snacks and water for you.
