Hike in the forests and immerse yourself in oxygen and nature. Jinfo Shan (Golden Buddha Mountain) is situated in Nanchuan District, Chongqing. It is 2 hour drive from the urban center.

Jinfoshan is an isolated mountain with cliffs up to 300m surrounding its relatively flat top. Its major vegetation types include subtropical broadleaf forests, coniferous forests, and subalpine meadows. Besides typical karst topography of gorges, stone forests, and cave systems, Jinfoshan is well known for its exceptional plant diversity. With its outstanding karst features and superb biodiversity, Jinfoshan was listed as a tentative World Heritage Site in 2001, and in 2014, the site was added as an extension to the South China Karst World Heritage Site.

It has superior geographical conditions, delicate ecology, and abundant tourism resources. It is popularly known as the back garden of the Chongqing Urban Area.

You may take Line 2 (临江门 Linjiangmen Station) or Line 1 (较场口Jiaochangkou Station).

Things to note

Prepare sun protection and wear comfortable shoes/clothes.
It is snowy around mid-Dec. Be careful with the large temperature difference between the urban city and suburban elevated area.
Nanchuan (Jinfoshan) is a suburb of Chongqing, and you should expect fewer meal options. And it is outdoor walking, with many staircases! Wear comfy shoes.

Passports are required for ticket clearance.
