Porto-Novo, the capital of Benin, is a city rich in history and culture. Located on the country's southeast coast, it offers an immersive experience of Beninese and African heritage.

Here's an overview of the main attractions not to be missed on a sightseeing tour of Porto-Novo: Les Cases afro-brésiliennes, Le Centre Songhaï, Le Temple des Pythons, Musée Honmey, Grande Mosquée de Porto-Novo, Rivière Noire d'Adjarra, local gastronomy.

In addition to its historic sites, Porto-Novo is also an excellent starting point for exploring the surrounding areas, such as the city of Cotonou or the beaches of Benin's coastline. Porto-Novo, today the capital of Benin, has a rich history that blends African, European, and Afro-Brazilian influences.

Founded in the 16th century, the city owes its name to the Portuguese, who named it "Porto-Novo" (meaning "New Port") for its strategic position on the Atlantic coast.
