This Island is a wonderful and peaceful place with around 18000 inhabitants, no far road, and no cars (no fumes). The colonial-style houses, wrought-iron balconies, narrow streets, and trailing bougainvillea give it a calm Mediterranean feel. Its house of slaves has enormous spiritual significance for some visitors, particularly black Americans.
