Explore Picturesque Edinburgh with Free Walking Tours

Edinburgh is an ancient bastion, shrouded in fog and shrouded in legends. It has repeatedly become the site of grand historical events. Every stone of the city keeps the memory of the legendary fighter for independence William Wallace - "brave heart", and in the severe castles live the images of the beautiful knightly novel "Ivanhoe". Therefore, if you are planning a trip, you should definitely book a free walking tour in Edinburgh.

Places You Should Pay Attention To

Like nowhere else in Scotland, the special Scottish way of life is manifested in Edinburgh. Bagpipes and kilts are still attributes of everyday life here. But this is only some of what can be seen within the Edinburgh walking tours.

Edinburgh Castle

The castle is located in the very center of the city, it can be seen from everywhere, any bus passing through the center of Edinburgh necessarily makes a stop nearby) literally and figuratively dominates the city: in terms of height, spectacularity, age, and historical significance. Special attention has never been paid to the castle, only since the 19th century, when Sir Walter Scott began to promote everything Scottish, the castle became a symbol of the country. Adult tickets cost £22.

The Royal Mile

The place starting from Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse is called the Royal Mile - it is one of the most charming streets in the world (although the distance from one point to another is not a mile, but a little more - 1 mile and 107 yards). The Royal Mile is not only a tourist mecca of Edinburgh, it is a place in which the whole history of the city and Scotland is.

Museum Of Scotland

A new attraction in Edinburgh's historic Old Town, the Museum of Scotland presents visitors with the nation's rich galleries - the whole story of Scotland: its land, its people, and their achievements, from prehistory, which is represented in the Geological Hall, to the achievements of the 20th century.

St Giles’ Cathedral

The church is located in Parliament Square, at the end of Saint Giles Street. There has been a church on this site since the 9th century. In 1126 the church was rebuilt, but in 1385 it was burnt down by the English. The only part left from that time was the columns in the center of the cathedral, supporting the tower. Saint Giles once led Edinburgh's fight against the episcopacy. Entry is free, but a donation of £1 is required.

Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art

Scotland's finest collections of 20th-century drawings, sculpture, and graphic art are on display at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. These collections include works by Bacon, Hockney, Miro, Matisse, Moore, Paolozzi, and Picasso. The gallery contains around five thousand objects, ranging from paintings, sculptures, prints, and drawings from the 1890s to contemporary video assemblages and clips.
