Overview of the tour in Edinburgh

From the meeting point, we will go to St Andrew Sq, where we will highlight the construction process and design of its impressive buildings, such as Dundas House, a neoclassical mansion from 1774.

We will walk along Queen St, where we will admire the impressive buildings that line this street. In particular, the National Portrait Gallery, a Gothic Revival building that houses a vast collection of Scottish portraits. In Thistle St, we will discover the first two houses built in the area, a proof of the careful and elegant design that characterizes the entire city.

On George St, the main artery of the New Town, named after King George III, we will talk about its commercial life, then, we will head to Rose St, known for its lively nightlife where we will talk about the history of the pubs and restaurants that have been a mainstay of the local community for centuries.

We'll finish at Charlotte Sq, an outstanding example of Georgian design. Designed by Robert Adam, this square is a masterpiece of 18th century architecture and town planning. We will discuss its magnificent design, the stories of its residents and curiosities of the area.

This activity includes:

  • Charlotte Square Private Garden

  • Dundas House
  • Queen Street Gardens Central
