Overview of the tour in Gjirokaster
A drive from Saranda to Gjirokastra takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Then, dive into a journey in time in one of the most well-preserved Ottoman architecture cities in the South of Albania. A visit to the castle of Argjiro, which dates back from the XII-XIII century. It is one of the largest castles with a long history in its walls, from the pre-Ottoman period, Ottoman occupation, the Italian period, WWI and WWII, and communist times.
The Old Bazaar is particularly beautiful. It is the best place to explore souvenirs containing Albanian symbols and cultural elements, traditional costumes handmade by the local ladies, and traditional food.
