Helsinki Free Tour
Overview of the tour in Helsinki
Starting in the Senate Square, where the Helsinki Cathedral, the University of Helsinki, and the old Senate are located, we give a brief overview of Finnish history and how Helsinki was transformed by C.L. Engel and the Russian tsars.
We then proceed into the area of Kruununhaka, considered the oldest part of town, and discuss the street signs, the Second World War and the House of the Estates. We then proceed towards the Uspenski Cathedral and the Market Square.
In Market Square, we will talk about Finnish gastronomy, and the Finnish cultural heritage: the sauna. Next to the market square is the famous Esplanadi park, which was inspired by the Champs Elysees in Paris. We take a leisurely stroll up the Esplanade towards Runeberg's statue, the national poet of Finland before moving towards the more modern part of Helsinki.
This activity includes:
- Esplanadi
- Market Square
- Senate Square
- Railway Square
