Overview

During the tour, you will be guided by a knowledgeable local tour guide who will take you through the various sections of the Citadel, including the Imperial City and the Forbidden Purple City. You will see the beautiful palaces and gardens the Nguyen Emperors once used.

The tour will also provide insights into the daily life of the royal family and the Vietnamese people during the Nguyen Dynasty. You will learn about their customs, traditions, and way of life.

Overall, this walking tour of Hue Citadel is a perfect way to discover Vietnam's rich cultural heritage and gain a deeper understanding of its history.

Our guides will meet you at 8 a.m and 2 PM. at the ticket booth. Please remember to wear comfy shoes, as we will be walking often.

“Citadel free tour”

Linh was a very good guide. Very informative, interesting and knowledgeable. He made it fun with some of his stories and was happy to answer questions. The site was beautiful and huge, I think a tour guide is a good way of understanding the history of the Imperial City.

“Interesting and friendly ”

Our guide, Linh, was very friendly, his English was great and his knowledge outstanding. Bring insect repellent. The sun wasn't an issue for our tour. Linh made the tour interesting and funny at times and kept a good pace. It would be impossible to cover every element of the Imperial City in just one tour, or even a day.... so he did a great job of giving us some knowledge to take away about the history of the city and its occupants.

“Exploring Hue Imperial city”

Highly recommend doing the imperial city with a guide as you'll get a much better experience as you explore the buildings and grounds. Linh was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. His humour and storytelling made for a great afternoon!

“Best guide in Hue”

A very complete tour of the ancient city. Linh shared with us all his knowledge in a didactic and pleasant way, he definitely knows his dates! It was really nice and time flew by, he answered all of our question (and we had a lot) plus he recommended us the tastiest place in town to try the local cuisine. If you’re coming to Hue, don’t hesitate to book a tour with Linh - he’s definitely worth the hype.
