Amazing Topkapi Palace & Basics of Ottoman Civilization
Overview of the tour in Istanbul
Because Topkapi Palace is the most expensive museum in Istanbul (around 50 Euros per person), don't you want to understand its history, architecture, and amazing collections in a more conscious manner? Why did the Ottoman state, a leading global superpower in the 16th and 17th centuries, rule a vast geography just within a small domed room? Why does the most ceremonial section of the palace look quite humble? What is the story behind Holy Relics, such as the arm of St. John the Baptist, and how they ended in Topkapi's treasury?
In this route, we will deep-dive into Topkapi Palace's rooms decorated like jewellery boxes and gardens resembling paradise. In the meantime, we will explore some fundamental characteristics of the Ottomans as well as some little-known aspects. We will discover famous treasures like "Spoonmaker's Diamond" and "Topkapi Dagger."
By the end of this route, guided by a professional licensed tourist guide, if you have additional free time, we will continue our discovery of Ottoman civilization in Sultanahmet or Sirkeci areas depending on your preference.

On arrival
The meeting point is "Merhaba Pastaneleri Sirkeci," a small cafe/pastry shop. It is a very central location and easy to access thanks to good public transportation connections. It is possible to use the "T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar Tram Line" and exit at the "Sirkeci" station if you are staying in Galata/Pera, Taksim, Sultanahmet, or Laleli areas. It is possible to use "Marmaray" and exit at "Sirkeci" underground station and follow gate number "1" to come closest. Marmaray is good if you are staying on the Asian side of Istanbul. I will wait for you in front of the "Merhaba Pastaneleri" with my official tourist guidance license hanging on my neck.
