Overview of the tour in Istanbul
Islam is the predominant religion in Turkey, and to help visitors from non-Islamic backgrounds understand its essence, we’ve designed this exclusive walking tour.
The route includes two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Suleymaniye Mosque and the Pantokrator Monastery. The tour concludes in a local, residential area where practicing Muslims live.
On this tour, we aim to cover:
Daily and weekly practices of Muslims within the mosque context
Social life in local practicing Muslim communities
Sufism, the mystical branch of Islam
We will visit the following sites in succession:
- The Sinan Pasha Ottoman Training School
- The Suleymaniye Mosque Complex
- Historic Ottoman Mansions in Suleymaniye
- The Aqueduct of Valens
- The Old City Butcher Bazaar
- Zeyrek (Pantokrator) Monastery and its Panoramic View

On arrival
The meeting point is just before the Sinanpasa Medresesi. It is just a 2-minute walking distance from Beyazıt&Grandbazaar T1 Tram Station. It is located on the main tramway in the old city. Your guide will share the Google map link via WhatsApp or email with you before the tour.
Things to note
Dress modestly in this tour. Both men and women are required to wear clothing/bring clothes that cover their shoulders, legs and for ladies to wear/bring a scarf in certain religious locations of the tour to be able to do inside visit.
