Overview of the tour in Jaen

Welcome to the Free Tour Jaén: "El Camino del Lagarto".

We welcome you in Jaén, Capital of the Holy Kingdom of Jaén, which was the safeguard and protection of the Christian kingdoms after the Reconquest carried out by King Fernando III, "The Saint", back in 1246 .

We are in the Plaza de San Ildefonso, an ancient square outside the walls where we will talk about the oldest Christian religious temple in the city, the Basilica of San Ildefonso, founded in 1248. We will talk about the miraculous descent of the Virgin of the Chapel, which occurred in 1430.

Then we will visit the Cathedral in the Plaza de Santa Maria, but a few moments before delighting us with its impressive facade, there will be time to delve into its various secrets such as those hidden in the back of the temple as, for example, La Mona and her curse.

These are some of the main landmarks that our visitors will have the opportunity to get to know as they get more and more involved in this magical and beautiful city, falling in love with its traditions, legends and, of course, its magic.

*IMPORTANT: A minimum of 5 attendees is required for the tour to take place.

On arrival

Remember that our meeting point will be at the Plaza de San Ildefonso (right in front of the Basilica of San Ildefonso). Just so you can identify me, remember that I will be wearing a white jacket with the Vivatia Tours logo and my official tour guide license from the Junta de Andalucía.

Things to note

Your best option to get to the meeting point is to park (in case you come by car) at the San Francisco Centro and Constitución parking lots, a few meters from the meeting point.
