Jérica - Strolling through a Medieval Village

Duration: 1h 45min

Overview of the tour in Jerica

The visit begins in the Plaza Germán Monleón, epicenter of the town, where you can see the Church of the disappeared Augustinian convent, now converted into a Cultural Center; the Fountain of Santa Águeda and the first medieval portal of those that open in its three walled enclosures.

Once inside the intramural area, you will see the remains of the second gate (the Hospital), and the exterior of the Church of Cristo de la Sangre, with its Mudejar bell tower; and from there, towards the belt of half the town, a new gate (San Juan) and reach the Eras, with spectacular views over the Palancia, the Mudejar Tower, the hermitage of San Roque, the castle and its meadow. From there, it descends again between gates, portals and walls to the main temple of the town, the Church of Santa Agueda, the local patron saint.

If the municipal museum is open and free of charge, you can finish your visit inside, visiting its spectacular epigraphic collection from Roman times, or the magnificent Gothic altarpiece of St. George, in Gothic style. If it is not open, a stroll through the main street of the town brings us back to the starting point.

This activity includes:

  • Fuente de Santa Agueda
  • PALANCIA MOTOR, S.A.
  • Ermita de San Roque
