Overview of the tour in Kandy
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
Join us for an unforgettable visit to Pinnawala, home to the world’s largest herd of captive elephants! Founded in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation, this sanctuary cares for orphaned and unweaned wild elephants.
With 71 elephants, including 30 males and 41 females, spanning three generations, Pinnawala offers a unique opportunity to witness conservation in action. In 2021, the birth of twin elephants marked a historic event, being the first twin birth in Sri Lanka since 1941. Discover the magic of elephant conservation up close and connect with these gentle giants.
