Overview

Poland was once a home to one of the largest Jewish communities in the world, and a centre of this thriving civilization was Kraków. Its historical Jewish district is a jewel of Jewish art and architecture. A place where 7 ancient synagogues, that amazingly survived the destruction of World War II and the Holocaust, stand witness to the test of time.

During our tour we will discover the historical context of the local Jewish community, talk about the death and destruction of World War II but also witness the amazing Jewish culture’s revival in contemporary Kraków. Present-day Kazimierz, a historical Jewish district, is also a cultural heart of the modern city of Kraków and home to a small but vibrant Jewish community. Join our tour and get ready for a deeply moving and fascinating history!

Hence, we do not accept parties of 8 or more people on regular free tours and guides have the right to deny participation to such groups. If you show up at the meeting point with the bigger group, our guide will ask you for the payment (10 euro/person) before the tour or cancel your reservation on the spot. To confirm your reservation, please arrive 10 minutes before starting. We can not guarantee participation when you will be late.

Please note that multiply bookings (under different names) for 7 people who belong to one group will still be treated as one organized group and the guide has the right to deny participation to such parties.

“Amazing Jewish Tour by Maciek”

Joined the “Jewish Krakow Tour” by Maciek on March 30th, and I can say that this is the best free walking tour I have joined. Maciek arrived on the location 10 minutes in advance, check all attendees and we managed to start on time. Although the group was quite big, he was very efficient in handling everyone. The way he talked about the tour showed his passion, he is very energetic. Never did I noticed that his energy went down. So everyone was attentively listening to him. When visiting Krakow, take this tour and you will never be disappointed. The other tour guide should learn from Maciek on how to deliver an excellent walking tour. Thank you Maciek and Walkative team!

“Free tour cracovie”

We liked the tour, the organization was perfect and our guide was top! You can tell she is passionate about her job. We were a bit disappointed with the content, we expected a bit more maybe.... (we did it after Auschwitz, maybe that's why... :) ) But we didn't regret it because we learned curious facts about the city ☺️

“Jewish Krakow”

Although the type of tour required seriousness for the commemorative places and historical episodes told, it is not a tour focused on the deportation (even if obviously it must be talked about) but on the stories and traditions of the Jewish population in Krakow. this tour also had Ania as a guide, she really confirms herself to be the best! thank you very much for allowing me to know this side too. (I had already done the tour of the old town and the wawel castle). highly recommended!
