Free Tour of La Orotava
Overview of the tour in La Orotava
The meeting point will be at the Plaza de la Constitución de la Orotava, originally, this public space was known as Llano de San Roque, because in its vicinity was located the hermitage of San Roque.
Next to the old hermitage was built the current church of San Agustín, which you will see at the back of this square. The name "Plaza de La Constitución" dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, in homage to the Spanish Constitution of 1812.
We will visit the Town Hall Square and Town Hall, this space was part until the nineteenth century of the former convent of the clear nuns of San Jose under the obedience of the Franciscan fathers.
We will also stop at the Casa de los Balcones or Casa Fonseca, a typical Canarian house with the characteristic wooden balconies and interior courtyard with carved wood built in 1632.
Another place we will visit the Hijuela del botánico or also called Hijuela is a garden area of more than 3390 m² located behind the Town Hall of La Orotava
