Overview

Caral is the oldest city in Peru and in the Americas, it is the headquarter of the first Andean civilization that formed the foundations of a singular social organization that besides Mesopotamia. Egypt, India, China and Central America are the nucleus where culture was born in the world.
The Caral pyramids are the oldest found to date in the Andes: 5000 years (3000 BC).
To build structures of this type needed a high level of technology and social organization to solve the construction demands and high expense of materials and energy.

At 6am departure from Lima to Vegueta on private support vehicle. Continue cycling by the trail heading to Caral through the desert. Guided visit to the impressive Caral archaeological site: the oldest city in the Americas. Afternoon ride along the valley downhill to Supe to go back to Lima.
