Free Tour of the Historic Center of Llanes
Overview of the tour in Llanes Asturias
We will start at the Sablón beach, entering the historic center of Llanes, declared a historic-artistic site for its preservation. We will see the second longest stretch of medieval wall in northern Spain and the palace of the Dukes of Estrada, a 17th century baroque palace that is said to have been burned by the Llaniscos. We will enter the medieval Llanes to visit the basilica of Santa María del Conceyu, with its magnificent Flemish-influenced plateresque altarpiece.
Along the Calle Mayor we will arrive at the Plaza de Santa Ana, where the Gastañaga palace, the chapel of Santa Ana and the house of the Whales of the brotherhood of the mareantes de San Nicolás are located. Did you know that Charles V "The Emperor" or Charles I of Spain was in Llanes? We will see the house of Juan Pariente, where he stayed.
We will descend to the port, leaving behind the chapel of La Magdalena, and admire the Cubos de la Memoria, a work of Agustín Ibarrola and tourist symbol of Llanes. We will finish the tour with a view of the Cantabrian Sea from the fort of Felipe II.
