Free Walking Tour: Historic Old City of London
Overview of the tour in London
How did an American billionaire buy London Bridge?
The Shard, The Gherkin, The Walkie-Talkie—why do all of London’s skyscrapers have such funny names? Why are there golden pineapples on top of St Paul’s in London? Find out the answers to these questions and uncover more secrets on our historic Old City of London Tour!
Explore 2,000 years of London’s history as we walk the entire length of the ancient Roman city of Londinium, the predecessor to modern London. We’ll see the Tower of London, home to the Crown Jewels and its famous Beefeaters, and visit the exact spot where the Great Fire of London began in 1666.
Along the way, we’ll uncover Roman ruins, royal history, and how London became a global financial powerhouse. We’ll chat about English pub culture and even discuss English food, which—despite its reputation—I believe is highly underrated!
We’ll also visit a church left roofless after the Blitz in World War II, before ending our tour at St Paul’s Cathedral, Christopher Wren’s masterpiece. It’s where Winston Churchill’s funeral was held, Princess Diana and King Charles were married, and where Nelson of Trafalgar and the Duke of Wellington are buried.

On arrival
In the park beside Tower Hill Tube Station, I’ll be standing in the middle of the large patch of grass, underneath the flagpole with the bright red flag. You can’t miss me—I have red hair and will be holding a green or blue umbrella.
