Half Day Tour to Queens Valley, Habu Temple and Deir El-Madinah
Overview of the tour in Luxor
You will meet your guide at your hotel reception to commence your trip to Queens Valley.
The Queens Valley lies about five kilometers south of the Kings Valley and was discovered in 1904. It was named (ta-nfrw) (The Land of Beauty), when it was devoted to burying the 19th and 20th Dynasty of Queens, princesses, and royal children. The Valley of the Queens includes more than 90 graves, most incomplete. There are four graves open to the public. From the Queens Valley to the Valley of the Artisans.
The region was given the name Deir El-Madinah or (City Monastery) when its temple was converted to a monastery. The town had been devoted to the Kings’ Valley craftsmen and their families. The community is one of the few still extant ancient settlements.
Habu is a giant religious complex with a unique entrance called Magdol. Habu may be derived from the name of the legend architect of the 18th Dynasty, Ahmose Son of Habu. The principal feature of the complex is the Ramses III Temple. It is very well-preserved a substantial portion of its inscriptions, reliefs, and colors.
