Run Like an Egyptian Running Tour
Overview of the tour in Madrid
In 1960 because of the construction of the Great Dam of Aswan (Egypt) and the threat it was for several monuments and archaeological sites, UNESCO made an urgent call to save this rich historical legacy.
The Egyptian state donated the temple of Debod to Spain in 1968 as a sign of gratitude for the help provided by Spain in saving the temples of Abu Simbel. The temple (open for visits since 1972) was rebuilt in one of Madrid’s many parks, ‘Parque del Oeste’, next to the royal palace. So now it offers an excellent location to combine culture and sport!
