Guided Hike in The Murgia Park of Matera

Overview of the tour in Matera

An unprecedented Loop Hike in the Murgia Materana Park.

On the way, we will have the opportunity to visit Rupestrian Churches with frescoes from the Byzantine era, old Jazzi, farms, and ancient engineering systems for channeling water into cisterns.

We will walk along the Gravina stream ( a place of settlement since Neolithic times, more than 100 meters deep and about 20 km long), where we can admire the sunset's wonderful colors over the magical and evocative Sassi of Matera.

EQUIPMENT:
Hiking shoes
Thermal water bottle or plastic bottle: 1.5 total of water and snacks.

OPTIONAL: Hiking poles, camera

Distance: about 7 km loop ( can be adjusted according to the abilities of the guest )
Trail route with an elevation gain of +/- 250m

Participants are required to:
- Show up in appropriate mental and physical condition, clothing, and hiking equipment.
- Maintain disciplined behavior during the initiative, respect people and private property, and follow the instructions given by the guides.

On arrival

The meeting point is at the entrance gate of the avenue to the shrine of the Palomba. Possibility of departure also from the historical center of Matera (rione sassi)
