Free Tour in Kibera Slum: Nairobi
Overview of the tour in Nairobi
Kibera Slum is one of the largest slums in the world, often referred to as "Chocolate City." It is a valley of shanty houses, making it a fascinating place to visit.
Our way of life is often described as "survival of the fittest." Notable areas in Kibera include Olympic, Kibera Art District, Kamkunji, Gatwekera, Lang'ata, and Soweto, among others.
Starting from the pick-up point at Equity Bank Kibera, we will walk through the Chief's office towards Kamkunji grounds, witnessing the oldest railway track still in use.
You’ll enjoy an aerial view of the slum while learning about Kibera’s origins and its unique way of life. Walking through the alleys, you’ll experience the creativity of the neighborhood and learn how basic needs like electricity, water, and sewer services are managed.
We’ll also explore social amenities such as schools and healthcare facilities. You’ll be amazed by the talent and innovation that thrive here, as well as the various business opportunities born out of necessity.
