Overview of the tour in Palencia

At the selected time, we will meet on Main Street to start a free tour of Palencia, where we will discover the most significant places in Castilian town.

First of all, we will go to the church of San Miguel, which stands out in the skyline of the city because of its high tower. Did you know that, besides being a place of worship, it also had defensive functions? Depending on the schedule, we may have the opportunity to enter and learn more about its history thanks to the explanations of the guide.

We will continue our tour of Palencia in the church of La Compañía, where the patron saint of the city, the Virgen de la Calle, is located. We will continue into the historic center of the city, walking next to the Palacio de la Diputación and passing by the market on our way to the monastery of Las Claras. We will arrive at the nerve center of the city since the seventeenth century, the Plaza Mayor. Here, we can see how, after some reforms, is a very symmetrical esplanade.

To finish the tour of Palencia, we will see the exterior of the Cathedral of Palencia, the Bella Re-Conocida. After almost two hours, we will finish the free tour in this area of the city.
