Overview of the tour in Paramaribo

Please note that we offer a unique experience focused on the remote areas of Suriname's hinterland rather than a luxury journey. Whether you're drawn to nature, history, culture, or adventure, this is a South American experience that will truly amaze you—it's like Africa right here in South America!

From the moment you begin your tour, you'll be captivated by the journey of discovering how life has evolved for the descendants of runaway slaves. Our adventure starts with an air-conditioned private bus or a 4x4 SUV from Paramaribo. The ride takes about 3 to 3.5 hours to reach the end of the public road, after which we’ll continue upstream on the Suriname River in a dugout canoe for another 3 to 4 hours to reach our base destination, where you’ll enjoy two nights’ stay.

Once there, we’ll explore the surrounding villages on foot and navigate by canoe to the breathtaking Tapawatra Rapids, the deepest natural dam in the area. Along the way, we'll stop by to greet the community chief and visit the local hospital, enriching your cultural experience.
