Overview of the tour in Paris

THE VISIT :
An interactive map shows where fragrance plants are grown on the five continents. Visitors can also discover animal-derived raw materials and ancient perfumery objects in an olfactory journey halway between past and present.

A number of old copper stills and vats are exhibited in an early 20th-century factory setting. The various stages of production (harvesting, cold fat extraction, distillation, maceration, and packaging) can be seen in films alternating early 20th century footage and contemporary images, taken in our factories at Grasse.

Perfumers or “noses” possess unique skills, and can recognize several thousand different smells. They develop their olfactory signatures through their imagination, creativity, and feelings for harmonious combinations, which enable them to create endless compositions.

The Maison Fragonard has a collection of perfumery-related objects unique in the world, representing exceptional skills from antiquity through to the 20th century. The Museum presents the finest pieces in the collection started by Jean-François Costa during the Fifties, including pomanders, richly decorated bottles, perfume burners, and travel kits…
