Located next to the historic city of Polonnaruwa, this park is one of the precious national treasures of the island. This national park is home to a diversity of mammals, including leopards, sloth bears, purple-faced langur monkeys, wild boar, sambar, spotted deer, buffalo, and endemic yellow-fronted barbet. You will also see the mighty elephants on our Wasgamuwa safari ride. Small water pools scattered throughout the national park are rich habitats for aquatic creatures like water monitors, crocodiles, pythons, and various beautiful aquatic birds.
