Walking tour from Gaia to the Ribeira
Overview of the tour in Porto
The cities of Oporto and Vila Nova de Gaia are only separated by the Douro River and its banks are an ideal place to enjoy a walk while discovering its essential places with a local Spanish-speaking guide.
We will find ourselves in front of the entrance of the Beira-Rio Market to learn about its history and its close link with the typical Portuguese gastronomy, and very close by we will see one of the stations of the Gaia Cable Car. On the horizon rises the Cathedral of Oporto. We will discover some of its legends, before continuing our walk to the Cálem Winery, to learn about the history of Port wine, the rabelos or the caves.
We will walk towards the Don Luis I Bridge to be amazed by its huge wrought iron structure, but first we will learn how we can climb the Jardim do Morro de Gaia and the history of the Fernandine Walls of Oporto. We just have to cross this bridge to get to Oporto, from where we can enjoy a magnificent postcard of the Monastery of Serra do Pilar. We will end this tour in the Ribeira district of Porto, where we will learn about its past and medieval structure.
