Overview
Start your journey at the crater-lake Kerið. Kerið is a collapsed magma chamber after an eruption that occurred 6.000 years ago. You can walk around the edge of the crater and embrace the surrounding landscape or go down to the lake’s shore and admire the milky turquoise waters and the vivid colors of its slopes.
Next up is Friðheimar horse farm where you will visit the stables, meet the famous Icelandic horse, and attend a show of the different gaits. Lunch (at your own expense) will be held in the greenhouse.
Back on board towards Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall. Considered by many as the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland, Gullfoss offers an impressive view. Behold the torrential water flow down two steps before dropping into a 32-meter-deep canyon.
Next up is Geysir geothermal area and its steaming hot springs. You will be taken by surprise each time Strokkur sprouts water high in the sky every 5 to 8 minutes.
Last but not least is Þingvellir National Park seen both as a historical and geological landmark. This is where the Icelandic parliament was founded in 930 and where you can observe the divergence of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates!
