Soviet Riga Tour
Overview of the tour in Riga
What do you know about Soviet Riga? We start our excursion from Latvian Riflemen Square and observe buildings and objects created during the Soviet era. Nowadays, many of them have already acquired the new meaning or simply disappeared at all. Now a new Memorial of the victims of the Soviet epoch is standing here.
Though not all of the historical buildings were reconstructed after WW2 but the City Wall and Saint Peter`s Church became touristic places.
Walking along Old Town`s Lenin street we`ll find places of demonstration and remember communist slogans and narratives. Not easy to find a hidden piece of history today known all over the democratic world-Baltic Way.
We continue in the central part of Riga direct to the Monument of Freedom. How Monument survive during the Soviet time and who protected it?
The last point we go to is situated in the Moscow forshtadt. It will be a Soviet structure built for collective farmers. And can be the next destination for you after the tour is finished as it is also a panoramic place today.
