The stunning landscape of Guanabara Bay, viewed from the Flamengo Landfill, is steeped in history. Highlighting key facts and landmarks, this tour offers a unique perspective to better understand the history of the city, Brazil, and even our present day.
We’ll focus primarily on the original Indigenous inhabitants, their crucial role in the region's history, the discovery of the "New World," the French colonization, the Portuguese reclaiming of the territory, and the tragic history of Indigenous and African slavery.
Additionally, we’ll explore monuments and discuss the region’s rich natural environment, including its flora, fauna, and geography.

On arrival
We will meet at Praça Cuauhtemoque. You can get to the meeting point by bus (local buses or Niteroi inter-municipal buses), metro (Flamengo Station), uber, taxi, etc.
Things to note
This is a tipping tour, so your tips will be very appreciated.
Take comfortable shoes for walking (about 5 Km), sunblock and/or hat, umbrella, or cap (if rainy weather).
Take something to rehydrate. We can refill your bottle with filtered water in one or two points. We may have a toilet stop if necessary.
